Erwin enters Malaysia and visits Singapore

After leaving Khao Sok, Erwin and his friends headed south over the border and in to Malaysia. They visited Penang, the Cameron Highlands and the Perhentian Islands but unfortunately there have been problems with the photos so I can't show you any. Erwin especially enjoyed his time in the Cameron Highlands as he got to enjoy lots of strawberry treats as there was a strawberry farm nearby.

Then it was off to Taman Negara, Malasysia's national park with 130 million years old tropical rainforest. Here Erwin enjoyed the canopy walk, which is said to be the world's longest treetop walk at 450m.

Next stop for Erwin and his friends was the city-state of Singapore. While he was visiting the city, Erwin stopped by the world famous Raffles Hotel.

He also had time to go to the zoo which he really enjoyed, as he got to see the orangutans and the white tiger among other animals.

Lovely Cakes and flickr

Here is the lovely pastry/cake shop I mentioned in my last post. It is Pierre Herme's shop in Rue Bonaparte, St Germain des Pres, Paris. If you are ever in Paris it is well worth a visit. The cakes are like works of art and they taste just as good as they look!

This week I finally upgraded my account on flickr to a pro account making uses of my prize of a free upgrade for being a winner of the Moo competition. Over the last few days I have been uploading lots of photos, joining groups and spending way to much time browsing some of the great pictures uploaded by others. if you like photos then flickr is the place to go!

Wee Softies in Paris

As I mentioned in a previous post, I had a quick couple of days in Paris in June, whilst visiting family for a big family reunion. It was lovely to see so many family members from Scotland, England, France and Australia, and great to get everyone together.

When my 'Wee Softies' heard about the trip they insisted that they come to! They argued that it wasn't fair that Erwin got to have all the fun and they wanted a bit of sightseeing themselves.

Unfortunately their wasn't to much time for sightseeing as most of the trip was taken up with family events but they did get to see a few things.

Here they are enjoying the sun in the Jardin de Luxembourgh. A beautiful garden with lots of sculptures both classical and modern. There is a great pastry/cake shop nearby that is well worth a visit if you are in Paris (i'll post details in a future post). The big domed building in the background is the Pantheon.

Erwin in Khao Sok National Park

So, following on from yesterday, here is the start of Erwin's updates on his trip. I think the last time we left him enjoying Island life in Koh Tao. After leaving Koh Tao he continued his visit of the islands by hoping over to Koh Samui. Unfortunately it was very wet while he was there so he didn't get to do much sightseeing.

Here he is on the ferry that travels to and from Koh Samui. He also had some time to read his phrase book so he could try and communicate with the locals.

After leaving  Koh Samui, Erwin and his friends continued their journey south and headed for Thailand's Khao Sok National Park. Here he is enjoying a trip on a long boat across the park's giant manmade lake. Khao Sok is home to the oldest evergreen rainforest in the world.

Accommodation for the night was a floating bamboo hut right on the lake, where the sounds of the jungle at night could be appreciated fully. Frogs croaking, monkeys yelling etc! I think Erwin enjoyed relaxing in the hut and taking in the beautiful scenery.

Gosh it has been a while!

I can't believe it has been over two months since my last entry. I really have got a lot of catching up to do. My only excuse is I have been really busy and the blog just hasn't been top of the list. 

Why so busy? Well a lot of things have changed for me recently but the main one is I have moved back to Scotland. Lots of packing and unpacking boxes etc. and driving back and forth between London and Scotland. I also had a quick trip to Paris but more on that later!

Erwin has also been very busy. He has been sending me regular updates on his trip and I am really behind on sharing his adventures. He has been to Malaysia, Borneo, Laos and is now in Cambodia, so there are lots of stories to share. I will sort through the pictures and post about his trip soon.

In the meantime, here is a picture of my three original 'Wee Softies' Milo, Bill and Mabel enjoying one last view of London including Big Ben and the 'Eye'. We were all really sad to leave London but it was time to come back to 'Bonnie Scotland'!

Moo Laptop Sticker Book now available

Remember last week, Milo was really excited because his photo had been picked to go in a new Laptop Sticker book compiled by Moo. Well I just had a look on the moo website and the book is now available to buy! Click on the link below to see all the fabulous stickers that appear in the book!

For some reason to technical for me, the link provided by Moo is not working properly for me so I have now removed it. Anyway, I have taken some screenshots and cropped the images to share a page from the sticker book and milo's sticker image. Erwin's Island Getaway

So after leaving Bangkok, Erwin and his friends headed south for the small Island of Koh Tao on the east of Thailand. It is a great place to go diving but being a Wee Softie, Erwin decided that he was happier just admiring the sea from afar and enjoying the island.

While his friends were out diving, Erwin was catching a few rays on the sun lounger,

and admiring the beautiful island from his beach hut by the pool. He decided to stay in the shade thought!

It does sound like he enjoyed his time on the island though. Here is what he wrote on the postcard:

"It's a bit hot for me so I've mostly been hanging out under the fan! And diving is not my thing - far too wet! But I do like the beaches and the sunsets. Also not sure about this swimming with sharks thing?! Lots of love Erwin"

Milo's News

A few weeks ago I found out about a competition Moo was running through Pixish to find images for a special laptop sticker book they were compiling. Moo wanted to create the perfect sticker book, filled with 90 stickers for putting on your laptop, phone, wii etc. They were looking for designs to be cool, funky, a special character, a bold pattern or a cute and colourful photo. Designers were asked to submit entries and Moo would pick 90 designs to create the book.

I decided to submit images of 4 'Wee Softies' and a Birdie and I am pleased to share that Moo announced the winners on their Blog and my name was there. I rushed over to the pixish competition page and discovered that it was Milo's picture that was my winning entry.

Now Milo has taken some time off from monkeying around and climbing trees as he is so excited he wants to tell everyone he will be in a special sticker book. (The other Wee Softies are now all very jealous).

I am now looking forward to seeing the finished book and congratulations to all the other winners.
